Porto Alegre – Barricade against the Temporary Framework

Porto Alegre, Brazil: Barricade against the Temporary Framework, ten years after June 2013

At nightfall on June 13, choosing the date in memory of the historic protests of 2013, we set up a barricade in the center of the city of Porto Alegre, one block from the Plaza de los Tres Poderes (Government Palace, Legislative Assembly and Palace of Justice), but it was not simply an act of memory, we also respond to the call for the struggle of the native peoples against the Temporary Framework (1). Colonial usurpation is a reality that affects our daily lives and we need to fight it. Aware of the war that domination (companies, agribusiness, political parties and religious brainwashers) have declared against us, the one that is confirmed every hour through the genocide of the peoples, the devastation of the earth and the cult of money, it is insufficient for us to assume the role of analysts of the situation. Massive information, available to everyone, makes it clear that it is not for lack of data that some choose, as a way of life, devastation, aggression, genocide, or that they choose to collaborate with whoever carries out all of this.

Thus, words alone are not enough to combat so much attack on life.

Few are the victories that we can celebrate collectively in these lands, the 2013 protests were precisely one of those few victories that was achieved in the streets, and that was given by the force of violent action, not by the meek parade they want and propose the parliamentary left, nor by the acts of patriotic submission carried out by the right-wing mentally affected by the hallucination of the red threat.

It was the chaos, the disorder, the leaderless vandalism, and the lucid vision of the rejection of impositions, segregation, and oppression, which gave way to power. And all politicians, whether they are from the left or the right, know, with fear, that this is the force that brings down any tyranny. Some peoples, collectives and individuals also know that but we know it with joy and with the search to expand the revolt.

And may the heat of this barricade also warm the hearts of our imprisoned anarchist comrades: From Chile to Greece, from Italy to Russia: Alfredo Cóspito, Anna Beniamino, Juan Sorroche, Gabriel Pombo da Silva, Claudio Lavazza, Pola Roupa, Nikos Maziottis , Toby Shone, Boris, Ivan Aloucco, Monica Caballero, Francisco Solar, Joaquín García.

Text of the Pamphlet that flew at the barricade:

We need to be aware that 1988 is only the date that marks a new cycle of exploitation and is not the Temporary Framework of the history of any people.

Already 2013 is the date that teaches us that fighting does not mean begging for the attention of institutions.

Because all violent action is justified by centuries of domination, our proposal is simply: Attack what attacks us.
